Louis Leonsis Obituary

Louis T. Leonsis Lowell native, Raytheon retiree, WWII vet; 93 VERO BEACH, Fla. Mr. Louis T. Leonsis, 93, formerly of Lowell, Mass., died on Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Indian River Medical Center, after a short illness. He was the Loving husband to the late Joanne (Koumantzelis) Leons. He was born in Lowell, Mass., Nov. 28, 1913, the son of the late Theodore and Maria Leoutsakos. Mr. Leonsis was a graduate of Lowell High School. He served in the Pacific Theatre in the Navy during World War II, on the USS Bunker Hill, up until his honorable discharge in 1945. He worked for many years at Raytheon Company, in Andover, up until his retirement. Mr. Leonsis was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell. He is survived by his loving son, Theodore "Ted" J. Leonsis and his wife, Lynn of McLean, Va., and Vero Beach, Fla.; a brother, Stanley Lewis of Chelmsford; two grandchildren, Zachary Leonsis and Elle Leonsis of McLean, Va.; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother to the late Polita Sakelakos, Mary Leoutsakos, and Stathis Leoutsakos. LEONSIS Friends will be received at the M.R. LAURIN FUNERAL HOME 295 Pawtucket St. Lowell on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will take place on Friday at 9 a.m. from the Funeral Home to be followed by services at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell at 10 a.m. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Louis and Joanne Leonsis Memorial Fund, c/o Holy Trinity Church, Lewis St., Lowell, MA 01854.
