Marcel R. 'Mike' Bellemare
Loving husband, dad,
pepere, and grand pepere

DRACUT -- Marcel R. "Mike" Bellemare, 83, a Dracut resident, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at his residence with his loving family by his side.

He was the devoted husband of Lillian R. (Proteau) Bellemare of Dracut with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage on April 21, 2011.

Born in Lowell on February 10, 1928, he was a son of the late Adelard and Blanche (Belliveau) Bellemare.

In 1946, Marcel joined the United States Army, earning the rank of Private. During his enlistment, he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.

Mr. Bellemare retired after 30 years working maintenance for the Food & Drug Administration in Winchester.

He was a communicant of the former St. Louis de France Church where he served on the parish's prayer group for 24 years, and was a Eucharistic Minister. Marcel was currently a parishioner of St. Michael Church, Lowell. He was a member of both the American Legion Post #315, and the DAV of Lowell.

Mike was a very active person and enjoyed skiing, both downhill and cross country. He was an avid golfer, most often playing the course at Applewood in Windham, NH. He looked forward to going out dancing every month with his wife, Lillian. Walking was another way Marcel enjoyed an active lifestyle.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Victor Bellemare and his wife, Ciel of Boston, Donald Bellemare and his partner, Linda Bender of Tewksbury, Kenneth Bellemare of Dracut; two daughters, Carol Ledoux and her husband, Louis of Hudson, NH, Diane Paige and her husband, Nicholas of Nashua, NH; a brother, Richard Bellemare and his wife, Georgette of Pelham, NH; four sisters, Aline Drouin of Hooksett, NH, Anita Plamondon and her husband, Amedee of Lowell, Pauline Sutphen and her husband, Stanley of Marco Island, FL and Evelyn Mercier of Lowell; nine grandchildren, Jamie Ledoux and his wife, Kim, Ryan Ledoux, Jon and Dylan Bellemare, Alexis Paige and her husband, Keith Shelton, Corridan Joshua Paige, Jessica, Kristen and Corey Bellemare; two great-grandchildren, Teagan and Sophie Ledoux; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was the brother of the late Henriette, Therese and Robert Bellemare, and Jacqueline Wolfgang.

BELLEMARE -- Relatives and friends may call at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell from 5 until 8 PM on Tuesday. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10 AM in St. Michael Church, Lowell. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. Ma tante Lil,
I am so sorry to hear of Mon Oncle Mike's passing. He really knew how to live life. I also, remember the fond memories of 4th of July cookouts shared with all of our familes. I will keep him in my prayers.
