Marianne Theresa Stewart

Marianne Theresa Stewart, 75, of North Chelmsford, MA passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Atrium at Drum Hill.

She was married to Glenn W. Stewart with whom she would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on June 11, 2023.

Born in New York City, New York, in 1947, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Marion (McGovern) Koenig.

Marianne graduated from Clarke High School of Westbury, NY, with the class of 1965. She moved to Lawrence MA with her husband Glenn in 1972 and they eventually settled in North Chelmsford in 1977 where she lived for the rest of her life.

During her working years, she was employed as a preschool teacher at the West Chelmsford Methodist Church.

Having seen the very first episode of the TV soap opera General Hospital the day before her 16th birthday, she was a longtime fan of the show and served as a moderator on the show's message board, in the process acquiring the computer skills to manage this early version of social media. Her talent for organizing and leadership were put to good use as the secretary & president of the Swingers Ladies Bowling League of Lowell for 15 years. Marianne fell in love with the Caribbean Island of St. Maarten during a visit in 1982. She would return there every June for more than 20 years from 1992 to 2015. She loved the warm beaches, the gentle breezes, the beautiful sunsets and most of all the many people she met there. It was her home away from home. Above all else she enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her son Brian Stewart of Buffalo, MO, her daughter and her husband, Colleen and Walter J. Baluta Jr. of Hudson, NH, her brother John Koenig of Billings, MT, her four grandchildren: Sierra Stewart, Ella Stewart, Christopher Baluta, Samantha Baluta, and her many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also the sister of the late Peter Koenig and Patricia Kessler.
