Time does keep moving along....I ran into Marty at a number of Open Mics and we enjoyed chatting and each others music. I was trying to track him down to play at a series I was trying to put together when I discovered he had passed away. Too damned young. I'm sure his family misses him tremendously.

I was not aware of Marty's passing until just now. I didn't know him well but encountered him at a number of Open Mikes in the area around 2012-2013 and we had some nice chats - I enjoyed his playing and he was complimentary about mine. Having been sort of out of touch with the world for a few years dealing with disability I hadn't seen him, nor heard of this. My deepest sympathies to all his family and friends. Reading through these comments it's obvious he was the great guy he appeared to be to me. I wish I'd had a chance to know him better. I am very sorry for your loss.

I was at the Jeff Bauman boston Marathon Bombing fundraiser. Marty, Gayle Picard and I were discussing and talking about putting together a combo ticket of shows for the Bull Run. The only time slots appeared to be winter, and Marty was undeterred. It was clear to me his goal was to simply play music, big crowd or not. His pure joy and love of music shone through. It was inspirational. Rock on Marty, it's music night again!k

The t-shirt is long gone, but I have and always will think of Marty when I hear: First I look at the purse, Locomotive Breath, Turn the page, and Cross-eyed Mary.
The years did pass but I'll always look fondly back on the times so long ago when we talked about the good and the difficult.
Sean, Mike, all family and friends I'm very sorry for your loss.
Great picture of Marty photographed by his loving sister Catherine. Thank you for this wonderful picture. Marty is so happy you took this!

My sincere condolences to Marty's family and friends, especially to Sharon who was with him through good times and hard times. But now I think this must be a mistake! Because I close my eyes and see Marty cheering me on through good and hard times. Then I look in the mirror and I swear that my smile has changed into Marty's crooked little smile. Marty and I sang with Striders Wrath and he taught me how to rock on and that is exactly what he is doing right now with some of the best musicians. Marty would not want anyone to be sad or cry for him because he is inside of all of us. Just close your eyes and there he is. Thank you so much Marty for supporting me and making me laugh even when I was far away. ROCK ON MY FRIEND! ♥♥♥

First let me say to Jackie, Jack, Catherine, Sheila, Micheal & Sean & family. I am so very sorry for your loss. Sharon I am so thankful that you came into Marty's life when you did, and I am sorry that you lost him so soon. Talking to a friend from Nevada, Dianne, she and I were talking about good times we all had, coming back to my house after Striders concerts, going camping, Sunday football dinners I had to cook, the girls would help out while the guys were in the living room. These are memories that will be forever in our minds !!

Marty and I worked together in a small engineering group for nearly 10 years when we were in our late 20's - 30's. We spent a lot of time together in and out of work. He was like a bratty, adored brother and I know how lucky I am to have been his friend. Blessings to all those who love him.

Martin. You were one of my first best friends. 41 summers passed as if no time had gone by at all. The summer of 75 flowed into the summer of 16 effortlessly, and 41 years of love for you continues to grow in my heart. I wish you were here for 41 more. I love you, Marty. Forever, Goofy Girl <3

Marty helped me break out of the little shell-world I grew up in. We didn't always make the best decisions, but I don't regret a single one. Marty will live on in the lives of those he touched.
