He was born in Methuen, on March 21, 1950, son of Joan (Sereigo) McGuire and Richard Chester Wareing. He was raised in Methuen and graduated from Methuen High School in 1967.
Mr. Wareing received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in 1974. He graduated from New England School of Law with a juris doctrate in 1979. He worked at Raytheon in Andover for 13 years, leaving to become an engineering manager at MA/COM. While pursuing his law degree, he worked for the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, contesting fraudulent claims. He then moved to the West Coast, working for the Eaton Company and later returned to Massachusetts to work for Loral (Lockeed-Martin).
During the past eight years, he educated himself as a theoretical physicist.
Besides his wife, survivors include a daughter, Laura Ashley Wareing; four brothers, Richard Wareing, Glenn Wareing, Charles Wareing and James Sereigo-Wareing; and two sisters, Denise Clegg and Diane Forrester.
