Robert Newton Obituary
Robert Lewis Newton, Sr., a longtime resident of Pepperell, died peacefully in his home on August 16, 2022. He was 80 years old. Robert was born on December 4th, 1941, in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He went to school at the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, MN, where he played football and was on the swim team. After one year in college, he joined the US Army and was stationed at Fort Devens, MA. He moved to Ashby, MA where he married and became a father to three children. He moved to Pepperell in 1976 and after working for HB Knowles Oil Inc. for many years, started his own business called Newton and Newton.
He enjoyed singing in Church, had a passion for traveling, and working with his hands. He was a member of the American Legion Post 213 in Pepperell. He loved being part of the Friends of Pepperell Seniors and visiting the Senior Center.
He is predeceased by his second wife, Margaret (Terry) Newton and his two stepsons, Edward and Anthony Lynde.
He is remembered as a loving father by his three children, Robert L. Newton, Jr. of Fitchburg, Patrick E. Newton and his wife Robin Newton of Leominster, and his daughter Debra S. Newton of Lunenburg. He is also remembered by his grandchildren, Tristen L. Scott, Spencer Scott, Jordan Coffey, Patrick J. Newton, Evelyn Newton, and Lauren Lynde Russell. Robert is survived by his siblings, William Newton, James Newton and Mary Newton all of Minnesota and by many nephews and nieces.
NEWTON - Robert Lewis, Sr., of Pepperell. August 16, 2022. Relatives and friends will gather for visiting hours in the McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Friday, September 9th from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial at Association Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Albert Harris Center, 37 Nashua Rd., Pepperell, MA 01463. Checks may be made out to the Town of Pepperell with "In Memory of Robert Newton" in the memo line. Please see www.McGaffiganFuneral.com

When Bob was the District Commander for the American Legion I was his Seargent at Arms. We spent hours on the road travelling Middlesex County. Rest in peace Comrade!
