Roland E. Simard
of Lowell; age 83

LOWELL -- Mr. Roland E. Simard, age 83, a longtime resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell, died on May 11, 2015.

He was the beloved husband of Claire R. (Boissonneault) Simard.

Born in Lowell, on January 25, 1932, he was the son of the late Ernest and Marie (Paquette) Simard.

He was educated in the Lowell School system and was a graduate of Lowell Trade School.

Roland was a parishioner of the former St. Jeanne d'Arc Church and more recently of the Parish of Saint Rita. He was also a longtime member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Boston & Maine Railroad.

Surviving him in addition to his wife Claire are his five children and their spouses, Elaine M. and Roger Caron of Lowell, Paul G. and Jocelyn Simard of Billerica, Gail S. and Jason Dowd of Wilmington, Kevin R. and Pamela Simard of Pittsburgh, PA and Bryan D. and Nicole Simard of Dracut; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Scott and his wife Michelle, Jesica, Nicole, Alyssa, Erin, Emma and Brianna; also nieces and nephews.

SIMARD -- died in Lowell on May 11, 2015. Mr. Roland E. Simard, age 83, a longtime resident of Lowell and husband of Claire R. (Boissonneault) Simard. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visiting hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Rita, 158 Mammoth Road, Lowell. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. Those wishing may make a memorial donation to The Jimmy Fund c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168. Arrangements by the ROLAND W.
