Matthew J. Simard, 34, of Dracut passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Born on June 13, 1991 in Lowell, he was the son of the late Patricia (Ball) Simard and David A. Simard and his wife, Carmen Mercado of Dracut who survive him.
Matthew was an avid fisherman and New England sports fan. Known to be a hard worker and the shirt off your back type, he could always be found working on odd end jobs around the house for family and friends. He also enjoyed cooking, which led him to working various jobs in the food service industry.
Extremely quiet in his faith, he remained close to his family. Often missing his mother and brothers presence after their passing. He could make his whole family laugh and enjoyed his family immensely.
In addition to his father and stepmother, Matthew is survived by his brother, Joseph Simard; his sister, Jamie Simard; stepbrother, Eric Mercado; his maternal grandmother, Eleanor Ball; his aunts and uncles, Cheryl Maahs, John Simard, Michael Ball and James Ball; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family in Maine.
Matthew is predeceased by his mother, Patricia (Ball) Simard, his brother, David Simard and his grandparents, Omer Ball, Roger Simard and Gloria and Reginald Emery.
Relatives and friends are invited to Matthew’s Life Celebration on Sunday, February 15, 2026 from 12 until 3 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. A brief prayer service will be held at 3 PM following the visitation. Burial will held in the spring.
