Theda Triantafel Obituary

Theda (Laganas) Triantafel
Loving sister and aunt

Theda (Laganas) Triantafel, after 95 wonderous years, of Andover, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at Saab Residence in Lowell, Massachusetts embraced by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of the late George Triantafel with whom she celebrated sixty-five loving and fulfilling years of marriage. Born in Dracut, Massachussetts, she was the daughter of the late Constantine and the late Anastasia (Andrianopoulos) Laganas. Theda was a graduate of Dracut High School and Lowell Commercial College and held an administrative post at Laganas Shoe of Lowell.

In her youth, Theda was an active member of the Daughters of Penelope. After marriage, Theda and her husband George resided in Brattleboro, Vermont and co-owned the Holiday Restaurant where together they welcomed loyal local customers and seasonal winter skiers from all over the country and made life-long friends. Theda was also active in the Brattleboro community as a volunteer in the Brattleboro Hospital and the local library. She was a member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Keene, New Hampshire and a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell, Massachusetts.

Eventually, Theda and her husband George established residence in Andover, where they lived for more than 40 years. She found joy in gardening and entertaining her family, friends and neighbors in her home. She loved to travel with her husband and particularly enjoyed visiting Bermuda.

Theda's genuine warmth, radiant smile, robust humor and loving compassion brought joy and comfort to whomever she met and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She relished moments shared with family and friends.

Theda is survived by her devoted sisters Olga C. Laganas of Lowell and Patricia L. Dukakis of South Natick and brothers-in-law Arthur Triantafel and his wife Kiki of Lynn, and Charles P. Sarantos of North Andover. She is also survived by two nephews, Constantine (Dino) Sarantos and his wife Elizabeth and their children Alyssa and Christopher Sarantos of Andover and Peter Triantafel of Lynn; four nieces, Kathy Dippell and her husband Rick, their sons Nicholas and Matthew of Bedford, NH, Kathy Kosolias and her husband Elias, their children George and Kiki of Lynn, Amalie Ann George of Needham, and her goddaughter Anastasia Sarantos Taskin and her husband Cengiz of New York, NY.

She is predeceased by her beloved sisters, Mary C. Laganas, Helen L. George, Iris L. Sarantos and Toula A. Laganas and brothers-in-law Arthur G. Dukakis, George S. George, and Nicholas Triantafel.
