Thomas Poznick Obituary

Lowell

Thomas "Tom" Poznick, Sr., 78, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was blessed to have the rosary said to him by his granddaughter, Nadia Poznick just before joining God in Heaven.

Tom grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts, where he was known for dazzling the football fans at Cawley Stadium with 90-yard touchdown runs. His childhood was filled with wonderful memories with his friends and brothers Fred, Steve, and Bob Poznick. When the streetlights came on Stromquist Avenue, Tom would run home to the loving arms of his parents, Frank and Stella.

Tom married his devoted and loving wife, JoAnne, who he met as his nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital when he broke his arm. Tom and JoAnne were married for 55 years and enjoyed rides to the New England coast and mountains. He loved his family time, especially playing basketball with his son, Thomas Poznick Jr. and playing dolls with his daughter, Cheryl Slattery. If you asked Tom Jr. and Cheryl to describe their Dad in two words, "my hero" would be the echo from the room. He lived up to this hero title, as he raised his three grandsons Charles, Chris, and Stephen, who followed in his footsteps as tremendous football players.

Before he was whisked off to Heaven, he loved to spend time with his granddaughter, Nadia, the sunshine of his life. He enjoyed learning about Nadia's favorite sport, tennis—they would watch and discuss it all day long. He was simply the best "Grampy" in the world!

It is now time to celebrate his life, on Thursday, April 15, and ALL ARE WELCOME. The day will start at 11 AM at MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL. VISITATION UNTIL 12:30 PM. In order to respect social distancing guidelines, we ask that one family at a time spend a few minutes with Tom talking about the good old days and how things are in Heaven. Please also wear a mask if you are medically able to do so. FOLLOWING THE VIEWING AT 12:30 PM, THERE WILL BE A PROCESSION TO SAINT MARY'S CEMETERY IN TEWKSBURY FOR THE SERVICE. Tom was without a doubt, an outstanding citizen and credit to our hometown, Lowell, Mass and of course to the Riddick Lowell High 1960 football team. Great Guy, great family person. I miss him and his lovely wife, and the complement she shared of my mother.
Please help me with a contract to Tom´s wife or his family.

To You Steve,
It might have been years since you and I have talked.
But I will never forget all the memories that you and I have shared.
You being a bartender, and I also being a bartender.
BUT THE BIGGEST THING WAS YOU AND I BEING THE BEST NEIGHBORS THERE WAS.
I HAD LIVE ON COSGROVE ST.
I JUST WANT TO SAY, i AM VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.
