William Vezina Obituary

William A. Vezina lifelong Lowell resident, USPS retiree; 66 LOWELL William A. Vezina, 66 years old, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died unexpectedly after a brief illness, Wednesday, April 30th, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, in Burlington. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet (Pacula) Vezina. He was born in Lowell, on May 15, 1941, a son of Archie L. Vezina, of Windham, NH, and the late Mary (Witts) Vezina. He was a graduate of St. Patrick's Grammar School, and Lowell High School. Mr. Vezina had been employed by the United States Postal Service for over 36 years. At the time of his retirement, he was Superintendent of Postal Operations in Nashua, NH. He was a communicant of the Holy Trinity Polish Church. He held memberships in the East End Club, and the Lowell Lodge of Elks. He was an avid New England sports fan, and loved to golf. His favorite thing about retirement was being able to spend more time with his 11 grandchildren. Surviving him, besides his wife and father, are his father's wife, Emily Vezina of Windham, NH; four children and their spouses, Diane and George Nickerson of Dracut; William A. Vezina, Jr. and his wife, Heather, of Valley Ranch, Texas; Edward Vezina of Lowell, and Sharon and Patrick Carey of Tewksbury; two sisters and their spouses, Ann Marie and Raymond Hodge of Lowell; and Mary Beth and Steven Corcoran, of Windham, NH; a brother, Raymond Vezina of Dracut; his 11 grandchildren, Bridget, Sophie, Allison, Sarah, Peter, Kevin, and Patricia Carey; Michael Nickerson; Molly and Benjamin Vezina; and William A. Vezina III; an uncle, Francis Witts, and his wife, Susan; also, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. VEZINA Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Monday, May 5th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street (Rte. 38), Lowell. His Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, May 6th, at 10 A.M. at the Holy Trinity Polish Church, High Street, Lowell. Burial in the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lowell. Janet and Kids,

It's hard to believe that Billy is gone, I was away for a few days and did not know until I returned to work and received a call from a friend. In addition to being my babysitter he was truly a friend and a mentor at work. Please accept my condolences.
