Before retiring, Mrs. Steele was employed as a sales manager for 25 years with Lull & Hartford Sporting Goods in Lowell.
She was also a longtime member and volunteer for the Westford Academy Boosters.
Besides her husband, her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sherrylynn Steele Strickland and John Strickland of Westford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chesley A. Steele Jr. and Julie Steele of Hollywood, Fla., Ronald A. and Sheri Steele of Tampa, Fla.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, William Zoller Jr. and Sena Zoller, Ralph and Judy Zoller, and Dwayne and Emellia Zoller, all of South Dakota; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Adelle Zoller Riss and Eleanor Zoller Freier and her husband, James, all of South Dakota; five grandchildren, Chesley A. Steele III, Clifton H. Steele, Crystal Steele, Heather Steele and John Dakota Strickland; three great-grandchildren, Chesley A. Steele IV, Samantha, and Jacob Steele; and many nieces and nephews.
