Private family services will take place. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
He was born July 7, 1951, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Hans and Mildred "Mitzi" (Kuhn) Kunze. On Oct. 7, 1972, in Michigan City, Indiana, he married Patricia Holmes, who survives in La Porte, Indiana. Also surviving are two daughters, Meredith (Joe) Attar of La Porte, Indiana, and Jennifer (Nick) Bergman of Brownsburg, Indiana; grandson, Riley Attar along with two granddaughters, Shelby Attar, and Emmaliza Bergman; two sisters, Sandie (Jay) Miller of Otis, Indiana, and Judy (Dan) Piechnik of Hastings, Michigan; Butch was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Attar; grandson, Justin Attar; and his step-mother, Floraine "Flo" Kunze.
Butch retired after 30 years from New York Blower Company, La Porte, Indiana, as Vice President of Engineering. He was a long time member of the Saugany Lake Tavern softball team, playing in the La Porte Parks & Recreation Softball leagues. Butch was quite a "Harley Guy" enjoying his numerous bike trips to Sturgis, South Dakota and Daytona Bike Week, Daytona, Florida. He enjoyed woodworking and cars, especially his 1959 Corvette. Butch was a regular bar patron at Pinola Saloon, but his best relaxation came from sitting on his front porch having a cigar and beer listening to the Chicago Cubs or Chicago Bears games.
Contributions may be made to Jameson Camp, 2001 Bridgeport Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46231.
