Dale L. Cook, 83, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at 12:08 p.m. in his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Buffalo and 10th Streets, Michigan City, Indiana, with Rev. Jordan Fetcko officiating. Entombment will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
He was born March 22, 1940, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Albert and Betty (Russell) Cook. On May 19, 1962, in Michigan City, Indiana, he married Dorothy Lasky, who survives in La Porte, Indiana.
Also surviving are two daughters, Carol Cook of Bradenton, Florida, Gail Wolford of Hanna, Indiana; three grandchildren, Jeremy Miller of Michigan City, Indiana, Jordan Guianen of Bradenton, Florida, and Gina Pressimone of Bradenton, Florida; two great-grandchildren, Braelynn Clezie and Willow Miller; and sister, Janet (Ron) Wiencek of Michigan City, Indiana.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Burroughs; brother, Neil Cook; and his son-in-law, Brett Wolford.
Dale was a member of IBEW for 46 years and retired in 2006 from NICTD.
He was an active member of the community and belonged to the Moose Family Center 980, St. Joseph Young Men's Society, Hoosier Coho Club where he was on the fishing tournament committee and the secretary for nine years, Great Lakers Car Club, NSRA and was a volunteer fireman with Coolspring Township fire department for 17 years.
Dale loved driving his old street rods and hunting and fishing with his many friends. For the last 12 years, he enjoyed spending his winters in Bradenton Florida.
