Daniel Clinton Craig, 45, of La Porte passed away at 8:35 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at Northwest Health-La Porte, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Jan. 15, 1976, in La Porte, Indiana, to Adam Daniel and Paulette Shirley (Nonnemaker) Craig.
Daniel attended La Porte Assembly of God. He was a proud father of his children. Daniel enjoyed watching them play sports. His fondest memories were attending father daughter dances and playing catch with his son and showing off his son's artwork. He loved fishing, grilling, going to the lake swimming, but most importantly spending time with his family and friends.
Daniel was an avid sports fanatic of the Chicago Bears, Cubs, Bulls and Notre Dame. He was passionate and knowledgeable about music. Daniel was a huge fan of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. He enjoyed guitar sessions with his dad and his friends. Daniel was a people person who had lots of charisma and enjoyed having conversations. Daniel was "the best uncle ever" who loved and protected his nieces and nephews. The most important things in his life were his family, friends and his relationship with God. Daniel will be greatly missed by all who loved him, especially his family and his friends, who referred to him as "Schwartz."
On Nov. 9, 2002, in La Porte, Indiana, he married the love of his life, Misty Flentge, who survives. Their personalities complemented each other, which they have enjoyed almost 19 years together.
Also surviving are his father, Adam Craig and Adam's special friend, Dolly Ewing, of Winamac; two children, Abigail Danielle and Adam Lee Craig, both of La Porte; three sisters, Debra (Jim) Weiler of La Porte, Jaymie (Chris) Shoff of Winamac and Jodi (Eric O'Banion) Lewis of Rolling Prairie; beloved and adored uncle to many nephews, nieces, great-nephew and great-nieces; mother-in-law, Norma (John) Thompson of Texas; special friends, Jimmy, Rudy, Eric, Kyle, Jay, and cousin, who was more like a brother, Barry.
Preceding in death were his mother; brother-in-law, Stephen Lewis; father-in-law, Alvinlee Flentge; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021, at La Porte Assembly of God Church, 244 E. Boyd Blvd., La Porte, with Pastor Jeff Hines officiating. Dan was a very special friend of our sons and a part of their childhood and teen years. His smile and laugh will never be forgotten. We felt like he was a part of our own family and enjoyed bumping into him at odd places and times. God bless your family and may you rest in peace.
