Doris Leah Lewalski, 88, of Michigan City passed away on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2021, at her home in Michigan City.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home. Burial will follow services in Greenwood Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home.
Doris was born Dec. 9, 1932, in Newberry, Michigan, to the late Frank and Lean V. (Johnston) Benjamin.
She married David Lewalski, who passed away on July 20, 2016.
Surviving is one daughter, Gail Cummings; one son, Daniel T. (Sandra) Lewalski; son-in-law, Raymond Hafacker; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ronald Benjamin and David Benjamin.
Preceding her in death are two sons, Greg Webster and Frederick Yost; and one daughter, Lisa K. Lewalski.
Doris was proficient in crocheting, doing many stained glass items for family and friends, quilting and gardening. She liked helping her husband with remodeling construction projects on their home and on their children's homes.
She was also a loving caregiver for all her family over her lifetime. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
