Dorothy Cook Obituary

Dorothy M. Cook, 81, La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, at 2:12 p.m. in Northwest Health-La Porte.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Buffalo and 10th streets, Michigan City, Indiana, with Rev. Jordan Fetcko officiating. Entombment will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

She was born April 17, 1943, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Paul and Loretta (Knoll) Lasky Sr. On May 19, 1962, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Dale Cook, who preceded her on Jan. 26, 2024.

Surviving are two daughters, Carol Cook of Bradenton, Florida, and Gail Wolford of Hanna, Indiana; three grandchildren, Jeremy Miller of Michigan City, Indiana, Jordan Guianen of Hayesville, North Carolina, and Gina Pressimone of Bradenton, Florida; two great-grandchildren, Braelynn Clezie and Willow Miller; and three sisters, Marianne Haynes of Michigan City, Indiana, Alice (Richard) Wozniak of Michigan City, Indiana, and Marilyn Wozniak of La Porte, Indiana.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Paul Lasky Jr., Ralph Lasky, Richard Lasky and Herbert Lasky.

Dorothy retired as a sewing machine operator at Filtration Plus. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Michigan City, Indiana, and enjoyed golfing, bowling, going to the movie theater, playing bingo at the Michigan City Senior Center and being in the Fourth of July Parade with her sisters driving her 1962 Pontiac Bonneville convertible. Dorothy also was a volunteer at the St. Mary's Thrift Shop.

Dale and Dorothy were fabulous neighbors for years. Both were so kind and helpful to everyone. Dorothy will be forever remembered on our cul-de-sac for the huge garage sales she and her sisters ran every year. Our condolences to her huge extended family. RIP
