Evelyn "Eve" J. Magley, 90, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Miller's Health and Rehab, La Porte.
She was born June 6, 1930, in Westville, Indiana, the daughter of Arthur Olds and Hazel (Isenhart) Olds-Wesner.
In 1960 in La Porte, Evelyn married Paul Magley, who preceded her in death Oct. 23, 2016.
A member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Eve was a lifelong resident of La Porte County. She was both a factory worker and homemaker, retiring after 17 years with Hedwin Corp. Eve also was a cashier at various stores around town such as Harvey's and A&P. She was active in the community, serving as Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 88 and as a team leader in building Fort LaPlayPorte. Eve's interests included gardening, especially her flowers, fishing and classic country western music. She loved her many pets and was a huge Cubs fan. She and her late husband danced their hearts out, often coming home with a prize for winning a local dance competition. Her family, though, was her special joy and they felt very fortunate to have her in their life as long as they did.
Eve is survived by her three sons, Randy (Dawn Ranta) Magley of Burns Harbor, Indiana, Daniel Cubel of La Porte, Indiana, and Rory Cubel of Mishawaka, Indiana; daughter, Julie (Charles) Smith of La Porte, Indiana; sister, Virginia Miller of Michigan; six grandchildren, Angela, Derek, Harper, Kara, Zachary and Tiffany; nine great-grandchildren Tara, Jacob, Grayson, Kiah, Acacia, Connor, Joe, Kyla and Aurora; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, Eve was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Kevin Cubel and Mark Magley; sisters, Katherine Bauer, Shirley Brasher, Mary Louise Olds and Phyllis Webb; and brothers, Edward and Robert Olds.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Indiana. Cremation will take place, with a private interment of cremated remains at a later date at Pine Lake Cemetery.
