Joan Vivian Stromer, 91, of St. Joseph, formerly of Union Pier and New Buffalo, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, at Caretel Inns of St. Joseph.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman, Michigan, 49106. Friends may meet with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo.
Memorial contributions may be given to Sarett Nature Center, 2300 N. Benton Center Rd., Benton Harbor, MI, 49022. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.
Joan was born Sept. 26, 1932, in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Emma (Raffel) Parr. On May 29, 1954, she married Joseph Stromer and he preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2012.
She played piano and was a member at New Buffalo United Methodist Church. She worked at D.C. Cook Plant for 10 years, retiring in 1992. Joan enjoyed golf, playing cards with the Town and Country Pinochle Club in Three Oaks and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She and Joe enjoyed their travels with the Sarett Nature Center. Survivors include two children: Daniel (Jeanne Pavlic) Stromer and Laurel (Michael George) Stromer; and a grandson: Evan Stromer. Joan was also preceded in death by her sister: Eleonora Vollrath. Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
