Joseph A. Gambill Sr., 78, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. in his home.
A celebration of life gathering will from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 23, 2301 Ohio St., Michigan City, Indiana. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, Indiana, is handling arrangements.
He was born Nov. 4, 1945, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to the late Walter and Loretta (Ahern) Gambill. On Dec. 21, 1979, in Michigan City, Indiana, he married Lynn Mallon, who survives in Michigan City, Indiana.
Surviving are a daughter, Kerri (Will) Marsh of Eu Claire, Michigan; two sons, Joseph (Angela) Gambill Jr. of South Bend, Indiana, and Jason (Trinity Wegiel) Gambill of Michigan City, Indiana; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Gambill.
Joseph retired as a driver at UPS. He was a member of Moose Family Center 980, Elk's Lodge 432, F.O.P. Dunes Lodge 75, D.A.V Chapter 23 and the Sons of the American Legion. Joseph enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing softball, shooting pool, Indy car racing and being with his family and friends.

Joe was a good friend in the early 70's when we both worked at UPS. After leaving Westville I lost track of Joe but heard many great stories from other friends who knew him well. Joe was a solid citizen and will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to the family.
