Ken Bellamy, 42, of Michiana Shores, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Nov. 30, 2021.
Due to COVID, there will be no visitation hours; private family services will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
He was born Kenneth Robert Bellamy on Jan. 7, 1979, in Valparaiso, Indiana, to his parents, Robert and Jodie (Heddens) Bellamy.
He is survived by his father, Robert Bellamy; his stepmother, Kathryn (Ott) Bellamy; his devoted fiancé, Merissa Janatik; and his expected baby girl, Brielle Kenre Bellamy. He also leaves behind cherished aunts, uncles, cousins and his two beloved dogs, Mazakeen and Molly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jodie Justice.
He attended Long Beach Elementary School, Notre Dame School, Krueger Jr. High and graduated from Rogers High School. Ken Loved auto racing and had an extensive racing career beginning at age 5, racing Quarter Midgets. He moved on to racing Mini Sprints at Peru and Logansport, Indiana, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. After that he raced tracks in Michigan and Indiana. Then came racing Super Late Models in Kalamazoo, Michigan. From there he went into the NASCAR Goodies Dash series, racing at Florida's Daytona Beach Speedway and Florida's Miami-Homestead Speedway, as well in the Carolinas until health concerns (blood clots) ended his career at age 20.
The Bellamy family is very grateful to the first responders of the Michiana Volunteer Fire Department for their devotion to our community.
