MaryAnn Lestinsky Obituary

MaryAnn Lestinsky, 83, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Feb. 23, 2024.

MaryAnn was born on May 24, 1940, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Max and Rose (Wilkins) Saylor.

On Aug. 29, 1964, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte, she married Stephen Rudy Lestinsky, who preceded her in death in 1991.

Surviving are her children, Steve (Amy) Lestinsky, Sheryl Lestinsky and Jim (Lori) Lestinsky, all of La Porte; grandchildren, Kirstin (Ryan) Lueken, Kylee (Brandon Carter) Lestinsky, Austin (Gretchen) Kubit, Taylor (Greg) Toliver, Travis (her Trav Boy) Lestinsky and Morgan (Jimmie Lewis) Lestinsky; great-grandchildren, Kora Lueken, Rudy Carter, Rowan, Reagan and Pierce Kubit, and Stevie Ann and Bo Toliver; sisters-in-law, Marlene Saylor and Shirley Saylor, both of Muskegon, Michigan, and Roseann Phillips of La Porte; special friends, Loretta Rudolph of La Porte and Sharon Struyf of Rolling Prairie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lee, Jim and Bill Saylor; sisters and brothers-in-law, Winifred (Mort) Clark, Maxine (Dick) Ghezzi and Colleen (Larry) McRoberts; and special friend, who she referred to as sister, Joyce Zolman.

MaryAnn worked for 20 years as a clerk at the La Porte County Court House. She was a master at their food carry-ins. For many years, she had MaryAnn's Food Wagon, where you could find her on weekends at auctions and festivals.

She and her husband, Steve, loved doing things together, like playing cards and hanging out with their friends. In 1991, MaryAnn lost the love of her life, and even though it was difficult, she continued to lead her family. She always put her family above herself.

MaryAnn loved all holidays, making each one a special occasion for her family. She delighted them with banquets of their favorite food dishes. Each year was larger than the last.

MaryAnn liked playing Texas hold'em with her card party group. She enjoyed flowers, but her claim to fame was her immaculately kept home, decorated to her personal style that reflected in an elegant way. She had a niche for style.

MaryAnn enjoyed relaxing in the sun on her patio, but she especially cherished the time she had in Muskegon laughing with all her family. She also anticipated her G.G.W. (Girls Gone Wild) Weekends with her sisters and nieces.

MaryAnn was known as "Baga" to her grandchildren. MaryAnn loved her grandchildren to no end. She made every effort to attend all the grandkids events, particularly their County Fair activities and sporting events. She was so proud to make it to every milestone in their lives. She adored her seven little great-grandchildren with her whole heart. Recently, shopping for them became one of her main activities.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Patton Cemetery.

The visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
