Sally Stinchcomb Obituary

Sally E. "Grandma Sally" Stinchcomb, age 88, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1934, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Charles Jr. and Mabel (Overholt) Hahn, who preceded her in death.

Sally met the love of her life, Gilbert Stinchcomb, when she worked at the M&M Drive-In, where she was a car hop. They were inseparable after that. They were married on Aug. 21, 1954, in Michigan City, Indiana, at the First Methodist Church until his passing in 2012.

She is survived by her children, David (Marie) Stinchcomb and Kay (Gary) Kahn; grandchildren, Stephanie (Matthew) Pinder, Ashley (Brandon) Sobiecki, Erin Stinchcomb Peterson and Ryan Stinchcomb; great-granddaughter, Chloe Peterson; and sisters-in-law, Emily Hahn and Marcia Hahn. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Charles E. Hahn III and William E. Hahn; and in-laws, Wallace R. and Gertrude Stinchcomb.

Sally was a member of the Women of the Moose 935 for 35 years. She worked at Al's Supermarket for 33 years as head cashier and was "Indiana State Checker of the Year" in 1965. Sally loved her Al's family and her customers. Sally loved to garden, crochet, do jigsaw puzzles, and play bingo. She enjoyed watching IU college basketball and traveling to Gatlinburg with her husband. She loved her family very much and spending time with them. Sally was a very caring, generous and giving person and gave the gift of skin for cancer and burn victims.
