Virginia Bobillo Obituary

Virginia M. "Ginny" Bobillo passed away unexpectedly due to an accident on Nov. 8, 2022.

Arrangements are being handled by Root Funeral Home, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. with the rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 14, at the funeral home, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Queen of All Saints Legacy Center, Michigan City, Indiana, followed by The Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow Mass in Greenwood Cemetery.

Ginny was born in Chicago, Illinois, on May 15, 1930, to Harry and Marie Reid. While a student at Ball State University, she met Raymond Bobillo and after graduation, the two were married in Michigan City, Indiana, on Aug. 4, 1951. He preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 2002.

Ginny is survived by four children, Doug (Kate) Bobillo of Michigan City, Tim (Mary Ann) Bobillo of West Lafayette, Indiana, Diane (Pat) Bergan of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Pat (Shannon) Bobillo of Winnetka, California. In addition, Ginny's 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren will carry on the memory of "Grammy."

In addition to Raymond, Ginny was predeceased by sons, Michael and Jeffery; daughter, Elizabeth; and brother, Harry Reid Jr.

Ginny was a former teacher, Cub Scout den mother and breast cancer survivor who was active in the lives of her children as students at Queen of All Saints and Marquette High School.

She loved to garden, feed the birds and share innumerable experiences with her kids, grandkids, and all of their many friends who called her Grammy. She was a loyal sports fan – being a Purdue Boilermaker football season ticketholder for many years – and never missed watching the Chicago Bears or her beloved Cubs.

She frequently traveled along with Ray on business and pleasure trips, often traveling just to attend a grade school Christmas program or Little League game of one of their grandkids. She loved to sing, read mystery novels and take her dog Cubbie along on trips to the McDonald's drive-thru, then down to Washington Park to eat and gaze out at the lake.

Grammy will be missed immeasurably by all who knew and loved her, but never forgotten as we cherish her smile and laugh, and the lullabies she composed and sang. We are happy in the knowledge that she and dad are together again.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be made to the Marquette High School Foundation, 306 W. 10th St., Michigan City, IN, 46360.

To Tim, Greg, Diane and Pat.
I am saddened to hear of your mothers death. She was an interesting, extraordinary woman. The last time I saw her was at my own mother´s funeral at Queens.
Your parents were one of a kind!
I take solace in the fact that she is with your dad now. Judy Downey

I saw Mrs. Bobillo a few weeks ago at a local store. She approached me and said Hi Karen. I was amazed she remembered me from being a substitute teacher and seeing her at church. She was a very kind and to remember prior students is just amazing. She's now in a place she surely deserves being the sweet and caring person she was. My thoughts and prayers are with family and
friends. Karen (Lasky) Wroblewski
