Deanna Lorencen Obituary

Deanna "Dee" Lorencen

Lansing - Deanna "Dee" Lorencen, 79, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away Thursday, December 31 2020, in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her husband, daughter and granddaughter.

A memorial mass was said in her honor at St. Gerard Catholic Church and she was laid to rest in St. Joesph Cemetery on January 2, 2021. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ele's Place in memory of Deanna Lorencen.

Deanna Lucy Dusseau, the daughter of Aloysius and Edna (Ravary) Dusseau, was born in Dayton, Ohio, on May 6, 1941, along with her twin brother, Duane Joesph Dusseau. They joined their older brothers Lowell and Kenneth.

The family moved to Lansing and she attended elementary school at Holy Cross and graduated from St Mary High School. She went to Davenport and received a certificate of achievement in business. She went on to work for Oldsmobile in Lansing as a key punch operator and worked there until EDS took over in the 80's and retired after almost 35 years.

She was united in marriage to Gerald "Jerry" Lorencen on March 3, 1962, and made their home in Lansing. She often would say to him over the years about their marriage "how did I get so lucky?"

Survivors include: her husband of 58 years, Gerald (Jerry) Lorencen; her sons, Ken of Grand Ledge and Brian (Brandi) Lorencen of Lansing; and her daughter, Sherry (Mark) Kreiser-Crouch of Laingsburg; 10 grandchildren, Miranda (Wade) Weaver, Tyler Lorencen, Mason and Dillon Kreiser, Bailey and Carly Lorencen, Mitch Crouch, Brock, Brodie and Bear Lorencen and a huge family full of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in-law; her brother, Lowell Dusseau; her son-in-law, Michael Kreiser and many loving relatives.

She was able to retire for many wonderful years to their beautiful winter home in The Villages, Florida and she spent many hours enjoying bike riding, swimming, playing cards with her many Florida friends. She perfected her artistic talents of painting while relaxing in the Florida sun. While home in Lansing, she always enjoyed the extended family on Saturday nights in her home, playing the family tradition dice game Farkle, often saying, "who has more fun than us?"

She was a strong loving woman that was so proud of her kids and her grandkids and her family and her many artistic accomplishments and of course her custom golf cart.

Fly with the angels Mom! You are truly where there is "not a twig a twigging."

Jerry and family -
I was sorry to hear of Dee's passing. I had many opportunities to work with her at Oldsmobile and later EDS when she was the data entry manager. She was an inspiration to me and she was a mentor to many who worked with her. She will be missed.

We have so many happy memories of time spent with Dee and Jerry here in The Villages and on our trip to Lansing. We even got to play Farkle with the whole Lorencen clan! We cherish our memories of them and want to send our sympathy and love to the whole family. She was one of a kind and will be missed. In Angels’ arms and straight to heaven my friend.
