Edsel Ford Bender

Edsel Ford Bender Lansing Born April 17, 1926, made his final journey on November 19, 2009 at the age of 83. Ed was a kind, gentle man and a real "people person." He had a pleasant smile and a hardy hand shake for everyone. Ed proudly served in the Navy during W. W. II. He worked as meat manager for Wrigleys' and Eberhards' and owned Fast Eddie's Party Store. One day he decided he wanted more time to fish, hunt, garden, travel and ride his ole' John Deere in his yard. His "retirement" lasted only six months -- he missed working with people. He took a job at Sam's Club as a greeter -- the job was perfect -- he worked another 16 years. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lura Bender and brother, Orlin. He leaves behind his wife and soul mate of 52 years, Sydney. Ed will be missed by many, especially his special friend, Elaine Black, and his little feline friends -- Fancy, Lulu, Lacey and Jezebel. At his request, there will be no services. Ed is the new greeter at Heaven's Gate -- his smile will be the same and his greeting unchanged, "good to see ya."
