Floyd Luginbill, age 96, passed away June 6, 2017.  He was born October 19, 1920 to Marcus and Rebecca (Mason) Luginbill at home in rural Berne, Indiana.  He attended one room elementary schools and graduated class president and valedictorian from Jefferson High School.  He then graduated from International Business College (Ft. Wayne) and was employed by Dunbar Furniture Company of Berne.  After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and trained in twin-engine B-25 bombers.  After training he was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant and assigned as a pilot instructor on the B-25 Mitchell, B-26 Marauder and the 4-engine B-24 Liberator.  After the war, he remained in the Air Force Reserves for 12 years and gained his commercial pilot certificate and instructor rating.  On release from active duty, he moved to Lansing, Michigan for employment with the J.C. Penney Co. as Comptroller and Merchandising Manager.  He was later employed by the Michigan Accident Fund as Chief Statistician, Assistant Manager and retired after 31 years as the CEO and General Manager. Floyd was a member of First Christian Church in Lansing, and after many years of active involvement, was commissioned there as an Elder Emeritus.  In 1950 he married Sarah Ann Price and they had two sons, Dr. David Luginbill (Linda) of Dimondale and James (Julie) of Kalamazoo. He is also survived by a sister Floreine Graham of Petroleum, Indiana, six grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by Ann, his wife of 58 years, sister Ruth (Don) Abnet of Berne and sister Esther (Jess) Patch of Decatur, Indiana.  Floyd's life was marked by faithfulness to God, his wife, his family and his work.  Visitation will be on Thursday, June 22, 5:30-7:30pm at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home at 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 24 at 11am at First Christian Church, 1001 Chester Road, Lansing.  Visitation  will be held at 10-11am.  Those desiring to make a donation may give to the church in his honor.

My condolences to you, Dr. Dave and Linda, and all of your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Only a family commitment would keep me from being with you today as we all remember the wonderful person your dad was. It was a joy to serve with him on the board of Elders at church. God bless you and yours today and always...

Love the photo gallery. The pictures of Uncle Floyd playing with his grandkids remind me so much of Grandpa playing with us. He was definitely his father's son. Love and prayers to all.
