Gerald Sever Obituary
Grand Blanc - Rev. Gerald Melvin Sever, Jr. passed away June 19, 2018. Born on September 1, 1946 in Detroit, MI at Grace Hospital. He and his identical twin were the first twins born at the hospital.
He is preceded in death by his parents Gerald Melvin Sever, Sr. and Joyce Arlene Epps also his identical twin brother Rev. Harold Sever. He is survived by his wife Dianne Waltz Gearhart Sever; daughters Kimberly Marie Goodband (Jeffrey); Heidi Ann Wachtel (Braden); Kaylene Marie Graham; grandchildren Garreth Wachtel; Marcus Wachtel; Jacob Wachtel; Ethan Goodband; Lucas Goodband; Soulymane Goodman; Gunner Graham and Brielle Graham. Also his siblings Helen (Kenneth) Miller; Janet (Mark) Biegle; Terry (Linda) Sever; Dawn (Robert) Wood; Cheryl (Gary) Lorts; Kenneth (Barbara) Sever; Susan Sever and sister-in-law Donna Sever.
Gerald Graduated from Emmanuel Bible College in Kitchener, Canada. He was a Minister in the Village Missions and United Methodist Churches.
Rev. Sever dearly loved sharing his love of the Lord and exemplified that love in all that he did. He especially enjoyed working in small, rural churches helping them to grow. He ministered for 46 years in New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania and Michigan. In addition to his ministerial duties, Rev. Sever also served as a volunteer fire fighter; and as chaplain for the fire departments and hospitals in the communities where he served.
Funeral Services will be held on June 27, 2018; 11:00 AM, Vernon United Methodist Church, 202 East Main St., Vernon, MI; Visitation time prior at 10:00 AM. Memorial Contributions: American Bible Society, 101 North Independence Mall East FL8, Philadelphia, PA, 19106-2155 Burial: At a later date.

I had the privilege of being the pianist in Vernon while Pastor Sever was there. He had a great musical ability and we shared the love of good gospel quartets. I will miss him
