Jim was also a previous member of the Peoples Church in East Lansing and was a supportive member to the B.P.O.E. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Janet of Traverse City; six children, Michael Thomson of Union City, TN, Craig (Kathy) Thomson of San Antonio, TX, Robert (Stacey) Thomson of Granger, IN, Elizabeth (Rodolpho) Merinez of East Lansing, MI, James (Suzy) Thomson of Kent, WA, and Darren Thomson of Traverse City; a brother, David Thomson of Anderson, SC; nine grandchildren, Leah, James, Donald, Chloe, Elliot, Amanda, Curtis, Dylan and Marina; one great-grandchild, Rodolpho; a faithful and loving companion, his dog Tia Maria; brother-in-law, Ted Lemen and wife Cecile of Lakewood, CO; sister-in-law, Martha Ouverson of Clear Lake, IA; and many other loving family members and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, L. T. "Tom" Thomson and wife Gloria, sister-in-law Jeanne Thomson, and brother-in-law Jay Ouverson. No services will be held at this time. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bortz Healthcare Pin Club located on Concord Street in Traverse City or the Alzheimer's Association Northwestern Michigan Chapter, 1040 Walnut, Traverse City, MI 49686. Jim's family would like to thank everyone at Bortz Healthcare, especially Wanda Jaynes and Denise Arlt, and those at Hospice of Michigan for their wonderful care during this difficult time. I have such wonderful memories of those summers when our two families would get together at the lake and barbeque and visit until it was dark and the mosquitos were eating us alive! I remember lots of laughter, food, drink and kids galore between our two familes. And of course rooting for State!!

jan, I have so many fond memories of Jim and Jay swapping funny jokes. I will miss both of their laughs as I'm sure you do too. Life will be very different for you but take it one day at a time. Enjoy your trip to E. Lansing and say hi to all the "kids".

All my love, Marty
