James Weir Obituary
Grand Ledge
A loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend passed away surrounded by his family August 1, 2015. Jim was born September 29, 1927 in Grand Ledge to the late Elmer and Cora (Harris) Weir. He served in the Army during WWII and owned and operated an A&W Restaurant which later took on his name sake, Jims' Place. Jim loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed deer hunting.
He is survived by daughter, Sue (Jerry) Royston; grandchildren, Steve (Jenny) Lantrip, Kelley Cranmore and Kristin (Bret) Royston; great grandchildren, Cierra, Josh, Jordan, Ashley, Jayda, Amanda and Mason. Jim was preceded in death by brothers, Elmer, Sid and Bud; sisters, Ruth, Tret, Orcelia, Lila and Martha.
A funeral service will be Tuesday, August 4, 2015, 1:00pm at the Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, Grand Ledge with The Reverend Barb Flory, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday 4-8:00pm and Tuesday from 12-1:00pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Memorial Honor Guard, Cole-Briggs Post 48, 731 N. Clinton Street, Grand Ledge, Michigan 48837. I've just learned of this....am sad to hear that one of my fondest great uncles has passed on, but know he is at peace with the rest of his loved ones....I will miss you, but I promise you will never be forgotten...RIP Great Uncle Jim....you were most def one of a kind.....they sure picked the perfect picture of you, always with that smile on your face and a chuckle in your voice....

I will miss you my wonderful first boss! I had some of my best times in my life working for & with you. It saddens me to see you go. But remember as long as we remember, you'll always be here in our heart's! One of your old Car Hopps.
