Joann Lardie Obituary

Joann "Jo" Nanette Lardie

Amarillo, TX

Joann "Jo" Nanette Lardie passed away on April 3, 2016.

She was born on April 11, 1925, to Carl and Isabelle Curtis in Lansing, Michigan. She was fortunate to have a second mother, Barbara Curtis, whom she loved very much.

Jo graduated from Lansing Everett High School in 1943. This is where she met high school sweetheart, Robert Lardie. Jo attended Michigan State University and taught school for 19 years in Perry, Michigan. Her second occupation was retail supervisor of a bookstore chain.

In retirement, she became a proud citizen of Las Vegas, Nevada and Amarillo, Texas.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, of nearly 70 years; sons, Bert and Bill; and 3 daughters-in-law that she adored, Jann, Allison and Linda. She was very proud of her 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandkids.

She was predeceased by a son, Robert "Bump"; and a granddaughter, Bethany.

Jo's special interests were her husband, Bob, meeting people, volunteer work, reading and watching basketball games. She loved God, family, friends and America.

Her memorial services will be held on June 14, 2016, in Perry, Michigan on their 70th wedding anniversary.

In lieu of flowers, Jo requested donations be made to Cal Farley's, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas 79105.

Jo was forever very special to my family . Growing up the gatherings and day trips consisted of Lardies, Gruesbecks and the Updyke families.
May each of you have a memory that will make you smile and laugh out loud.
Hugs to you, Bob and all your family.

My heartfelt condolences on the passing of Jo. I worked with her at the bookstores (Cindy Stead) and she was a wonderful boss--knowledgeable, caring, and enjoyed a good laugh. I believe she enjoyed a good life too, with family and friends, nice cruises and a little gambling! I send my thoughts, prayers, and fond memories.

My deepest sympathy to Bob and all the family!
I loved going to Vegas with my grandparents (Russ and Vannette Updyke) to visit them.
Gram always loved their adventures! I'm sure they're having a big party in heaven now ❤

Jo will most certainly be missed by all who knew her! She was one terrific gal for sure. Probably the most optimistic and caring person I know. She and Bob were born to be a couple ! She felt blessed to have such a wonderful family and I'm certain it is a tribute to her that they are. (Yes you may have played a part in that Bob :)
My privilege to have called her my friend,
Eleanor Barnes
