I just found this obituary. My dad, Al Campbell, grew up with the Lorenz brothers in Lansing and always spoke highly of John. I also met him when I was a little girl and he was really neat. May he Rest In Peace.

My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of this great guy. I got to know John well in his later years and feel fortunate to have gotten to spend lots of time hearing his colorful stories. Rest in Peace!

My condolences to Elizabeth and to John's daughter Barbara.
I so enjoyed working with John on his book, ‘Cows to Cars' and I am going to miss all those wonderful stories that he told us. And as John would say, "here is one more, but you can't put it the book". He would make you laugh so hard it was sometimes difficult to catch your breath. You will be miss sir! Always the gentlemen. You are one of a kind! Now go sell the man a new car.

It is with sadness that I learned of John's passing. He was a wonderful person who took great care of my friend Betty.
