John Pollock Obituary

John Raymond "Ray" Pollock

Kalkaska, MI - John Raymond (Ray) Pollock passed away peacefully Saturday January 9, 2021, in Florida. His wife Mary was with him. He was 90 years old.

Born on Valentine's Day 1930, in Lansing MI, he was the son of John (Jack) Sydney and Genevieve (Gene) Marie (Cooley) Pollock. Ray was an outgoing man, who loved his wife, children, friends, and making people laugh. He was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, friend, neighbor and a prankster. If he made you smile, it made his day. If you laughed, it was better.

Ray loved everything cars; he built them, he collected them, he drove them. For many years, he sold them, for Jack Dykstra and Max Curtis among others, in Lansing MI. He also managed Schmidt's Grocery as a young man, and was an entrepreneur as an older man. Ray was a creative soul; he had an eye for art, could fly a plane, loved landscaping his yard, had a strong faith in the Lord, and a "vision" for all of his surroundings. His versatile abilities and outgoing personality resulted in many unique long-lasting friendships, which he deeply treasured.

Ray was the beloved husband of Mary (Springman) for 20 years, and of Marlene (Spalsbury), who predeceased him. He loved his children, Brad (Patti) Pollock, Cydney (Mike) Dutcher, and Randy (Lauire) Pollock, his grandchildren, Christie (Richard) Bayus, Jeff Pollock, Jamie (David) Johnson, Lacy (Shane) Sailer and great grandchildren, Preston Bayus, Benton Sailer, and Abigail and Ava Johnson. Ray is also survived by a sister, Elaine Campbell, along with cousins, nephews and nieces.

Funeral services for Ray will be held on Wednesday January 20th at Gorsline Runciman, 900 E. Michigan Avenue in Lansing. Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00, with a private family and graveside service to follow. A Celebration of Ray's Life will also be held in Cocoa, FL and in Kalkaska, MI at a future date.

Donations on his behalf can be made to ASPCA.
