I grew up a few houses down from Mr. Pohl. I was a typical kid with all kinds of questions and Im sure I was annoying to such a busy guy. Mr Pohl never made me feel that way. He was always kind, attentive and made time to teach me trick shots on the basketball hoop in the back yard and about cars. I have wonderful memories about sitting in the garage with Mr Pohl working on his Cutlass. He instiled in me a great appreciation for Oldsmobiles and old cars in general. I always stayed in contact with Mr Pohl after I left the neighborhood and loved talking cars with him. I was fortunate enough to eventually buy a 72 Cutlass and after my father the first person I couldnt wait to show my car to was Mr. Pohl. I was honored and proud to have my car in the same events as he had his cars in, and when he came over to look my car over I beamed with pride.
I recently moved back to Atlanta and when I heard about Mr. Pohl passing I was sad. Sad I couldnt say goodbye, and sad for his amazing family. Then I was struck by all the wonderful memories I had of him..it made me think that if an annoying kid from the neighborhood though so highly and fondly of him his family had to be overwhelmed and blessed with great memories to keep them happy. Mr. Pohl was a great man and one of the good ones. Although I had to sell my Cutlass to pay for my move, my next one will be a 69 convetable. Blue in color, and Mr Pohl will always be riding in that car with me.

So sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I worked for Joe at Lansing Car Assembly in the Quality Department. He was a great Boss to work for. Also had the pleasure of golfing with him many times. He was a great guy outside of work too! He will be remembered and missed.
