Lewis Tuttle Obituary

Lewis Potter Tuttle Age 84, died on May 21, 2012. He was born September 12, 1927 in Lansing, Michigan, the only child of George Raymond and Rebecca Gaylord Tuttle. He graduated from Eastern H.S. in Lansing, and Michigan State University after serving in the Army Air Force. Lewis willed his body to Michigan State University and his eyes to the Michigan Eye Bank. During his life he gave over 9 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. Most of Lewis employment was with the State of Michigan in the departments of revenue, management and budget and mental health. While working in the revenue department in Dearborn, he was active in the Southeastern Michigan State Employees Credit Union. Lewis was a devout Christian and served his church in many capacities. The churches were Plymouth Congregational in Lansing, Greenfield United Church of Christ in Dearborn, and Edgewood United Church of Christ in East Lansing. Lewis married Mary Celia Putnam on May 9, 1953 in East Lansing. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Amy Lucinda. Lewis is survived by his spouse, Mary Celia, son Brian (Barbara) of Lansing and daughter Rebecca (Clinton) Ensworth of Medina, Ohio. He is also survived by six granddaughters, Miriam (Jeremiah) May of Port Huron, MI., Rachel (Bill) Lam of Kalamazoo, MI., Naomi (Aaron) Schafer of Lansing, Julie (Jason) Stanley of Oregon, Ohio, and Stephanie and Emily of Ensworth of Media, Ohio. In addition these great-grandchildren survive, Jason and Michael Mai, Connor, Kaitlyn and Addison Lam, Hannah, Chasya and Narah May, and Elizabeth and Emma Schafer. Memorial services to celebrate Lewis' life will be held at 3:00p.m. Sunday, July 8 at Edgewood United Church of Christ, 469 N. Hagadorn, East Lansing. Memorial contributions may be made to Edgewood UCC, 469 N. Hagadorn, Michigan Parkinson Foundation, 30400 Telegraph Rd., Suite 150, Bingham Farms, MI 48025-5819, or National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue/Bob Hope Road, Miami, Florida 33136-1494 ("Research, Care and Hope, Worldwide").

It is with sadness that I read of Lew passing. Many fond memories of him and Jack talking and arguing about anything and everything. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
