Mary Elizabeth Vandecar

Lansing

Mary died on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the age of 93. She was born on April 29, 1921 in Jeffersonville, Indiana to the late Herbert and Anna May Jones.

She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and retired from Schmidts.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Vandecar and eleven brothers and sisters. She is survived by a brother Donald Jones, a sister Barbara Schnatter, several nieces and nephews, and her loving caretakers Marsha Brown, Peggy McElroy and her dear friend Esther Brown. 

The funeral liturgy will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel with Rev. Fr. John Byers officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mother Teresa House in memory of Mary. Condolences may be made at www.palmerbush.com.

With my most sincere condolences. As another former Schmidt employee I saw what a fine person and great character Mary was. My late wife, Deb Moray and dear friend Carolyn Parks would be invited to Mary's house for lunch. When Deb got home she raved about what they had to eat. Mary would share her recipe Deb and from this I also learned what a fantastic cook Mary was.
