Maurice A. Farhat, born on July 30, 1933, the son of Joseph and Ida (Nouhan) Farhat, passed into eternal life on March 23, 2016. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph A. Farhat, Jr., Leo A. Farhat, Sr, and Norman C. Farhat; sisters, Mariann Farhat, Kathryn (Kramer), Gloria (Mansour), and Cecilia Farhat; sister-in-law, Virginia Farhat. Maurice is survived by his children; Linda Farhat, Maria Farhat, Gordon Farhat, Kevin Farhat and Rose (Rick) Goodson, grandchildren; Alexandria Gullage, Michael Gullage, Anthony Farhat and Matthew Goodson, brothers; Ralph (Dee) Farhat, John (Salli) Farhat, brothers-in-law; Paul Kramer and George (Amal) Mansour and sister-in-law Marina DiGregorio (Norman) Farhat. Maurice was blessed with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including his close friend, Mona Rickart (Schey).
Maurice was a graduate of St. Mary Cathedral High School in Lansing Michigan. He honorably served in the U.S Army during the Korean crisis and the Vietnam war. Maurice owned various businesses throughout his lifetime and enjoyed spending time in the company of his family and many friends. He was an avid lover of sports. He enjoyed politics and was a devoted Republican. He was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all. Special thanks to the nurses at Bay Pines, Florida VA Hospice for the wonderful care given to Maurice in his final days.
A mass to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 27th, 2016 at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour Avenue, Lansing Michigan 48933. His nephews, His Excellency The Most Reverend Gregory John Mansour of the Eparchy of Saint Maron, Brooklyn, New York, and Father Vincent W. Farhat of St. Maron Maronite Catholic Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Ste 420 Rockville, MD 20850
