Maxine Farnum Obituary

Maxine Elizabeth Farnum Dewitt Maxine, age 88, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2009 following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born February 7, 1921 in Tuscola County, Michigan to Harry and Pearl (Whitaker) DeCoe. She married Billie S. Farnum in 1936. They were married for 43 years until his death in 1979. Also preceding her in death were her seven siblings and her eldest son, Eugene. Maxine was a homemaker who devoted her time and love to her family. She was also an avid gardener who took great joy in watching things grow. She was a member of Eastern Star and belonged to Plymouth Congregational Church. Surviving are her sons Norman (Renee) and Ronald (Kathy); grandchildren Tracy, Lisa, Shawn, Louis, Billie, Bobbie, Kristin, and Adam; and 9 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her special friend, E. Wayne Parker. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, 2001 E. Grand River Ave, Lansing. The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, Dewitt.
