Michael "Mike" R. Smith, passed away October 8, 2014, at the age of 63.  He was born in St. Johns, Michigan, the son of Leonard and Bernettia (Roach) Smith.  Mike married Mary Lou Mueller on May 20, 1972 in Fowler, Michigan and she survives him.  He retired from General Motors after 30 years.  He was an active member of the Pewamo Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed his grandkids and yard work that he did around the neighborhood.  He was also on the Pewamo Village Council for over 20 years. 

Mike is also survived by son, Brian Smith of Pewamo, daughters, Becky (Michael) Yerge of Pewamo and Kim (Derek Wylie) Smith of Rock Hill, SC and son, Patrick (Kerri) Smith of Ionia, three grandchildren, Wyatt Smith, Rylee Smith and Zola Wylie, his sister Sandy Vergeson, several brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.  Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brother Patrick Smith, his father and mother-in-law, Henry (Lucille) Mueller.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am, Saturday, October 11, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 126 East Street, Pewamo, Michigan with Fr. Charlon Mason presiding, with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 8:00 pm, Friday, October 10, 2014 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm with a Rosary at 3:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm with a Vigil at 8:00 pm at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mike's name to the charity of the family's choice.
