Noah Cooper Obituary

Noah Dobson Cooper February 12, 1982 to September 15, 2013 We lost our beloved Noah in the early afternoon of September 15. The cause of death is unknown. Noah was 31 years old. He is a James Madison College of MSU graduate and was most recently an MSU College of Law student. He will be remembered most for his love and deep commitment to his family; his passion for social justice and sustainability, his love of music, which showed most in his superlative talents on the piano and his memorable dancing; and his loyalty and great kindness to his friends. He is deeply mourned by his mother Tracy Dobson (Oscar Kent), father John Cooper (Lynne Kohon), sister Cheyney Dobson, stepsisters Shandora Acrey, Sharonda Kent, and Anika Kohon, aunts Carol Hovey (Ken) and Wendy Browner (Jack), grandmothers Betty Cooper and Alice Dobson, and his many cousins and friends. A private celebration of Noah's life will be held at a future date. Donations in his name may be made to the MSU Student Organic Farm www.msuorganicfarm.org

Met Noah my first semester at MSU fall 2005. We had the same Chem and Bio class. Good guy, very friendly remember studying at his house once. Heard he had moved to Hawaii and lost contact. Was surprised when I googled and found out he had passed. Remember seeing him walking out of St. John on MAC. I hope he's in a better place and the family is doing well.

Tracy and family, I'm deeply grieving for your loss. I'm very sorry that even though we lived just down the street where Noah grew up, we didn't get to know him very well. I've read all the comments and remembrances and came to understand what an outstanding young man you had brought him up to be. You had taught him all your beliefs and values. He had made this world a better place and was well on his way to really make a differece. You have every reason to be immensely proud of him. And what a dreadful loss for humanity and the world to have his young life cut short. You are in my prayers for the gift and blessing of peace, strength, love and yes, joy too. Noah would want you to continue to live a joyous life and spread his joyful spirit to others. Take care.

Noah will be greatly missed. His heart was so true to the people that came into his life. When you saw him, he always made you feel like he saw you just the other day, even if you had not seen him in a year. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Cheney, Tracy, and John, I am so sorry to hear about Noah's passing. It has been many years since my college days now, but I have always looked back fondly on the time I spent babysitting for your family. My heart aches for you, John, Tracy and Cheyney. Noah was like a second son to me as he and Dustin grew up together and weathered the storms that only teenage boys can have. Their friendship through the years made me smile knowing they were there for each other. May you find peace in knowing the joy that Noah brought through his smile, his music and his kind spirit.

I remember not only playing tennis with you, but playing tennis with your Dad too. Noah, you always had such a bright smile as I passed you in the hallways at ELHS. It made me feel cool to know some upperclassmen. To Noah's family - I wish you peace and comfort and whatever it takes to get through this difficult time. Please know that I'm thinking of you.

Noah, my brother, I still hurt for you every day. We laughed, cried, brawled and bashed our way thru life from middle school on, I can't believe your gone friend. Thank you for all the memories you've given me, Thank you for all the hugs and conversations we've had over the years. Thanks for trying to teach me to play piano. Thanks for letting me borrow your dad's Volvo. (Thats for you Jon) and thanks for running with me when skating was a crime. We've been thru a lot together my brother, and my heart aches for your family more than I ever could have imagined. I will always remember your energy, your smile all the great times we have had over the years! I Love you

It is such a tragedy that Noah left this life so early. He was such a bright, giving person in the years I knew him. Throughout high school, no matter what he personally may have been dealing with, he always had a grin and a hug to cheer you up. He will be greatly missed.

I didn't know Noah particularly well, but I was in the ELHS class one year above him and he always struck me as such a bright, friendly, and driven person. I'm so deeply sorry to hear of this great loss, and my thoughts are with you.

Though we were not close, it did not take many times for us to cross paths for me to see what a great person you were. You were loved my many, many people. I am very sorry to see you leave, hopefully our paths will cross on 'the other side'. Rest Well Noah.

I am so very sorry and shaken by your loss. In the picture,I see Cooper. Although I didn't get to know Noah beyond his early years, I remember him at Dagwoods, Art's Lake O the Hills apartment, and a few get togethers. In those early years I remember his free spirited nature. Most of the years after that it was through conversations with Cooper that updated me.How nice for me it would have been to have kept in touch with Noah over the years.
My thoughts are with you John and Tracy, and am quite sue that will be the case each day for years to come. Stay strong and cherish the good times and wonderful memories you shared with Noah.
