Peter Bergin Obituary
Lansing - Peter C. Bergin, best known as Chris, passed away on January 14, 2021 with "his girls" at his side.
Chris, the youngest of three, was born December 6, 1932 in Detroit, MI, to Dr. Joseph and Genevieve Bergin. The family settled in Alma in the late 1940's. After graduating high school in 1951, Chris joined the Navy, became a hospitalman, serving in the Pacific Northwest. Upon his return home, Chris moved to Lansing, and eventually became employed at the Michigan Education Association. In time, Chris began moonlighting at the Frontier Food & Cocktails. And in the early 1970's, Chris moved to the Frontier full time until it closed in 1998. Retirement was short lived for Chris while he drove for Dean Transportation's CATA services. For the next 15+ years, Chris worked in golfing day trips and league play around his work schedule.
Besides golf, Chris enjoyed bowling for many years. In 1981 Chris was on the bowling team that won the handicap team crown in the men's city championship bowling tournament. Chris was also very involved with the Knights of Columbus (East Lansing Council #7816) working at fish fries, pancake breakfasts, and Tootsie Roll drives. Travel was enjoyed with family, especially visits to Ireland, Toronto, California, Florida, and Hawaii.
Chris is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol, their daughter, Maureen, many beloved nieces, nephews, and close friends. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Mike, and his sister JoAnn.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Tiffany Funeral Home, with the Rosary prayed at 7pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with visitation from 10am until the time of Mass. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Shriners Hospitals for Children in memory of Chris Bergin. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.tiffanyfuneralhome.com

Carol and Maureen: What a nice man Chris was, always a gentleman. I will be thinking about both of you as you go through the next few days. You have many wonderful memories. Remember, we all cherish our lifelong memories of friends that MEA brought to us.
