Lansing - She was 93 when she passed away on July 22, 2018.

Phyllis Jean Sprague is survived by her half-daughter, Helene Clutterbuck, and her only son, Phil Sprague.

Phyllis, better known to many as Jean, descended from a long line of independent women and she, like them, had to work hard for her independence. It is said that we are marked by those whom we look up to and Jean had many heroes. Florence Nightingale once said,"The greatest heroes are those who do their duty in the daily grind of domestic affairs whilst the world whirls as a maddening dreidel." This quote nails Jean's personality.

Two of her most brilliant heroes were her parents, Elsie and George. Another favorite was her heroine, Queen Elizabeth II, which is possibly why many of us looked upon Jean as our own Royal Mum. Like the Royal Mum, she was capable of giving and sharing unselfish love even with all of her efforts to attain independence. Her love of life and people especially children were just a few of her redeeming qualities. We all miss her and want her to know that we are moving forward under her loving, intelligent guidance. We also want her to know that her cat, Parker, is blending in splendidly with his extended family.

Let's join together to celebrate Jean's life. Her memorial will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018. The location will be:

I am proud to pay sincere respect to two of my own heroes. I definitely feel the loss of my beloved Mum and will miss her forever. I have memories of John McCain's bravery and dedication to our country. I will miss him along with the rest of our country and the world. May they both rest in peace.
