Theodore Minnick Obituary

Theodore G. "Ted" Minnick

Mason

Ted passed on to his spiritual life peacefully on January 1, 2017, held in the loving arms of family members.  He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 26, 1944, to Edward and Pauline Minnick, who preceded him in death, as well as his son, Shawn.

Family was always first with Ted and he enjoyed sharing many special times with them and numerous friends golfing, snowmobiling, bowling, hunting, traveling, and fishing.  He was a lifelong Spartan and was employed by Michigan State University for 42 years.

Ted is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Francine; sons, Kim (Jill), Matt (Rachel), Nick (Jeannine), and Yuri (Darcy); and brother, Steve (Pat).  He dearly loved his grandchildren, Madeline, Valerie, Ben, Samantha, Anna, Siena, Wyatt, and Drew.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing.  His family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, where the Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Ingham County Animal Shelter in memory of Ted Minnick.  Online condolences may be left for his family at www.EstesLeadley.com.

I hadn't heard of Ted's passing until just now. I used to work for Ted at MSU while I was a student. He was one of my favorite supervisors. He was definitely one of a kind and I truly sorry for your loss.

Fran & Minnick Family,
Can not fully express how sorry we were to hear about Ted's passing.
Somehow I can picture him now, sitting at a table with other great Spartans discussing Spartan Football. So many great memories! So many great tailgates! Rose Bowl, Wisconsin, steak tartare and much much more. His sly smile, his entertainment of my kids (Allison & Mike), his humor.... and of course his "kill Buba kill" button are the thoughts that come to mind, as I remember Ted. His love of MSU was obviously surpassed by his love of family. No doubt this great man will be missed, but a smile comes when I think of all that he gave us. Fran, prayers of support coming your way from CA.

Dear Fran and sons, I am so sorry to hear of Ted's passing. I will always remember him with a smile and laughter. Boy, could he tell the best jokes and with a straight face! He really loved his family as he always spoke fondly of you. We will all miss him deeply, but can rejoice in knowing him . Rest in peace Ted and Go Green! Sincerely, Teres Robins
