Winifred Maniez Obituary
St. Johns - Winifred Joyce Maniez, age 93 of St. Johns passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. She was born September 1, 1927 in Detroit the daughter of Howard and Evangeline (VanBreeman) Glass. She married Fernand Maniez on July 20, 1943 in Wayne, MI. Winifred worked as a Social Worker for the State of Michigan for over 20 years, until her retirement.
Winifred enjoyed sewing, crocheting, traveling, reading and trips to the Casino. She shared her talent of crocheting over the years, knitting hats for babies at Sparrow Hospital and this year alone she donated 50 hats.
Winifred is survived by her children, David Maniez, Joanna (Dick) O'Herron, Terry (Connie) Maniez, Jacqueline (Mark) Zamarron, Peter (Maggie) Maniez; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Mildred Domanke, Jan Gill and Judy Houghton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Quin Maniez, daughter-in-law, Judy Maniez and her brothers, James, Ronald, Milton, Jerry and Leonard Glass.
Per Winifred's wishes cremation has taken place with a memorial gathering to be held in the spring. Interment will be held at a later date in the "Maniez Family Memorial Garden" on the Maniez Family land.
