Dwayne Wilks Obituary

Olton- Dwayne Wilks, 87, of Olton, died Monday, April 16, 2018, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Olton with Brother Neely Landrum officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 18, 2018.Dwayne was born October 17, 1930, in Plainview, Texas, to Dee and Winnie (Bell) Wilks. Graduating from Olton High School in 1949, Dwayne married Jane Bond on May 27, 1950. He retired from farming in 1993 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was known as a caregiver and he volunteered at the Sandcrawl Museum. Working on anything with a motor and working with wood were a couple of Dwayne's talents. He enjoyed making wood tops and teaching children how to spin them. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jane Wilks of Olton and three daughters, D'Lyle Selman of McAllen, Teresa Light and her husband, Jonathan of Olton, and Nan Neta Beck and her husband, Peter of Cedar Creek. He was blessed with eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials be made to the Olton Volunteer Ambulance Association P.O. Box 1087 Olton, Texas 79064, the First United Methodist Church P.O. Box 1081 Olton, Texas 79064 or a favorite charity.
