Glenn McCandless Obituary

Lubbock- Glenn McCandless passed away November 16, 2018. A time of fellowship and remembrance is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. today, November 19, 2018, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 75 years at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at The Worship Center. Family and friends are invited to share memories and expressions of sympathy, and view Glenn's life tribute at www.memorialdesigners.net.

Glenn Delbert McCandless was born on December 12, 1942, to John and Effie McCandless in Lubbock, Texas. Glenn married Betty Damron on December 20, 1962, at Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas.

Growing up Glenn enjoyed rebuilding and racing cars with his brothers. He was always making people laugh and had an infectious smile. Glenn worked as a general contractor for fifty-six years but was forced to give up the career he loved due to his health.

Glenn was a member of the NRA and NWTF and taught many kids about guns and gun safety. He loved anything that had to do with hunting. Months before the start of the hunting season he would be filling feeders and getting things ready for deer season. Every weekend everyone knew he would go the lease or ranch. Deer hunting was his passion. Glenn loved spending every available moment at the McCandless Ranch. Many people called him "Magoo".

He worked hard and enjoyed life. More importantly, his love for God and Jesus was evident through his deep faith.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Nell McCandless; children, Perry and Roddney McCandless; Nanette Binder and husband, Jay Bob; grandchildren, Glen McCandless, Crystal Jenkins, LaTasha Loveall, Corbin and Kylan Binder; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lawrence McCandless and wife, Joann; Kathy Rodgers and husband, Dusty; Linda Boswell and husband, Bill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Delbert and Effie Mae McCandless; son, Garland Gaddy; siblings, Nita Rodgers, Louise Duff, Donald, Kenneth, and Doug McCandless.

The family of Glenn McCandless would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Lubbock for their loving care and support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designer for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.

A special thank you to Tiffany Todd for taking amazing care of Glenn. She will forever be a part of the McCandless family.
