Juanita Landess Gregory LUBBOCK - Juanita Landess Gregory, age 88, died at Covenant Hospital, Lubbock on Wednesday, March 1, 2012. She was born July 10, 1923 in Portales, New Mexico to Margie Woodard and John Felix Landess. In 1929, she and her family moved to Lubbock. Juanita graduated from Lubbock High School in 1941. On June 21, 1941 Juanita married the love of her life, Buford Gregory. For many years she and Buford farmed in Tahoka, Pettit and Lubbock. In 1952 they moved to the city of Lubbock. She was active in Home Demonstration clubs, PTA, Forrest Heights Methodist Church and her daughters' activities. She and Buford were blessed to have been able to travel by RV to the 48 contiguous states, taking in the sights and visiting family. She was an avid golfer and fan of the Texas Tech Red Raiders. She and Buford rarely missed a football or basketball game in the early and mid-years of their lives. In her later years, she could be found in her red t-shirts watching Tech games on TV. Juanita is survived by two daughters, Polly Gregory-Hussey and her husband, Thayer F. Hussey of Lubbock, and Carolyn Sue Costantino and her husband, John R. Costantino of San Antonio. She is also survived by one brother, Brock L. Landess of Pine Valley, Calif. and five grandchildren, G. Shane Rasco and his wife, Patti, of San Antonio, Melissa Case Dupee and her husband, Robert E., of San Antonio, Susan Case Smith and her husband, Troy R., of North Richland Hills, Todd B. Rasco and his wife, Cathy, of San Antonio, and Michael L. Costantino of Allen. She is also survived by five step-grandchildren, Amy Wolf and her husband, Eric, Tristan Hussey and his wife, Keri, Seth Hussey, Rachel Parrish and her husband, Aaron, Kira Hickerson and her husband, Chayse; also two great-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; five nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Jackie Kemp Gregory of Lubbock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Gregory; a son, Harold Brock; and one brother, John L. Landess, of El Cajon, Ca. Funeral services and a celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Home, 1420 Main Street, Lubbock, Texas. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the South Plains Food Bank, 4612 Locust Avenue, Lubbock, Texas 79404.
