Lannie Sifuentes Obituary
Lannie Sifuentes Lannie Sifuentes, 47, of Lubbock passed away in the loving arms of His Heavenly Father Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011. He was born Nov. 20, 1963. He was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather and brother. Rosary service will be held at Guajardo Funeral Chapels at 6:30 p.m. today, located at 401 N. University, Lubbock, Texas. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in Saint Patrick's Catholic Church on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at 8 a.m., officiated by Msgr. Jim O'Connor, located at 1603 Cherry Ave, Lubbock, Texas, with interment to follow in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton, Texas, under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. He married Gloria Aguirre on Dec. 23, 1983, in Lubbock, Texas. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Orlando Sifuentes of Abernathy; maternal grandparents, Jose Apa and Elena Ama Sifuentes of Abernathy; paternal grandparents, Patricio and Maria Garza of San Antonio; and father-in-law, Wallie Aguirre of Lubbock. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gloria of 27 years; son, RJ (Elaine); daughter, Monica, his Princess; granddaughter, Liliana Baby Princess; mother-in-law, Lily Aguirre; parents, Frank and Gloria Garza; brother, Ruben (Liz) Garza; sisters, Irene Garza and Connie Garza; Prima Hermana, Norma Lopez, all of Lubbock; and Primo Hermano, Albert Dominguez of Abernathy. Serving as pallbearers will be Ruben Garza, Albert Dominguez, Chris Gonzalez, Jason Willis, Robert Aguirre and Anselmo Martinez. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Frank Aguilar, Frank Dominguez, Sam Dominguez, Juan Dominguez, Jessie Dominguez, Andy Dominguez, Phillip Mijo Martinez, Victor Lugo, Henry Montoya and Chris Flores. Lannie's passion in life included his love of family and coaching R.J. And Monica's football, basketball, baseball, soccer and fast pitch softball teams for 24 years from 1987 to 2011. Baseball- LCAA, Dixie Little League and Select; football- YFL; basketball- Monterey Optimist; soccer- L.S.A; Fast Pitch Softball, SPGF and Lubbock Youth Softball. Lannie played softball with LA Dream Team coached by Robert Narvaiz. He was PTA President and parent volunteer at Bean Elementary, volunteered with the Monterey Baseball Booster Club concession stand under Coach Fred Oliver, and also participated in Relay for Life and served as a security officer for LISD during sporting events. He was employed for 17 years with Mistletoe Tex Pack and the last 10 years of his life with Conway Freight as a truck driver. The family wishes to thank Dr. Howard Beck and staff, along with Dr. Rodolfo Martinez and staff, and all of the nurses from Covenant Hospital South 7th floor, for all of your love and compassion shown toward Lannie and his family. We consider you a member of our family and we truly appreciate the love you showed him during his courageous battle with cancer.
