Linda was born June 24, 1933, at home in a house located at the Pure Oil Refinery in Healdton, Oklahoma. Linda is the daughter of the late Robert Henry and Eva Fay Pennington Edwards, of Kilgore and Freeport, TX. Her parents moved from Oklahoma to East Texas when Linda was a baby, and she grew up in Kilgore. She married Darrel Dean Nix of Gilmer, TX, on August 26, 1954, in Laird Hill, Texas. In the early years of their more than 53 years of marriage, they lived in East and South Texas. They soon made their home in Irving, where Linda raised her four children and worked for Irving Independent School District. Darrel and Linda later made their home in Lubbock for over 17 years and Linda returned to Irving after Darrel's death.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Vickey Nix, of Irving; daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Gary Cloud, of Lubbock; son, Donald Nix, of Amarillo; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Diansa Nix, of Murphy. Survivors also include seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Bryan, Andrea, Sarah, Grant, Gabrielle, and Lauren; and eight great-grandchildren, Matthew, Austin, Makayla, Taylor, Blake, Luis, Chloe, and Sasha.
