Martin Brillhart Obituary
Mart was born to G.C. and Oma Lee Brillhart in Spearman, Texas Wednesday, June 9, 1948 and moved to his heavenly home on the same date in 2018 at the age of 70. Mart was a 1966 graduate of Spearman High School, attended Lubbock Christian College for two years before enrolling in A&M University where he received both his Bachelor of Science and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Brillhart, Doc to many, was known and respected throughout the veterinarian community beyond the Lubbock area. Doc started practicing the care of large animals in the Posey community in his home 43 years ago. As a young child, Melissa, "Miss" to her dad, remembers new-born calves and colts receiving IVs hanging from the cabinet doors in the kitchen. From the ground up Doc built the clinic and boarding facilities that the Slaton and surrounding communities have grown to respect and depend on for their pets and livestock. His kind and generous spirit will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him. Doc loved this community that he lived in and served. He wanted to make sure that his legacy continued through his veterinary clinic for his customers and friends with the same care and compassion that he always gave.
Doc is survived by his daughter, Melissa Brillhart Searsy and husband Josh of Slaton, TX, his sidekick Toddy, his french bulldog along with his veterinary clinic family.
Doc was preceded in death by his beloved wife, D'Lana Brillhart, his parents and a brother, Bob Sims.
A Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Friday at the Bible Baptist Church located at 525 West Panhandle Street Slaton, Texas 79364 with Pastor Chris Downer officiating. Interment will be in Brillhart Cemetery, 10980 CR F, Spearman, TX at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 16, 2018.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Englunds, 1400 Woodrow Road, Slaton, Texas.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Texas Boys Ranch Inc., P. O. Box 5665 Lubbock, TX 79408 or to the Texas Tech Univesity School of Veterinary Medicine, 1248 Indiana Avenue Lubbock, TX 79415 and/or Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, 134 Dodge City Trail, Boys Ranch, TX 79010.

Martin has been so awesome with dogs throughout the years. And he just loves my grandson Jude, whenever he sees Jude he will give him a lollipop and they go outside and visit. We were deeply going to miss him. We love you doc
